CORP MEMBER DONATES WRITING MATERIALS TO OVER 50 STUDENTS IN YOBE STATE

As part of the National Youth service Corps (NYSC) Community development service (CDS) programme, a corp member, Tijani Hassan Abdulkarim currently undergoing the one year mandatory National youth service has donated exercise books, pen, pencils, erasers and sharpners to fifty one (51) students of Arikime Primary School, Potiskum, Yobe State.


The programme which was executed under the scheme's personal CDS project is aimed at empowering, sensitising and educating the students on the importance of acquiring education; being the bedrock of Community development.


The NYSC state Coordinator Hajiya (Mrs.) Hafsat Yerima represented by Mr. Mike Itodo called on the students to be more serious and committed to their studies. She enlightened the students on the importance of education which is capable of securing a bright future for them.


The state Coordinator further expressed her happiness with the courage of the corp member who utilised his time and energy in achieving the production of over 200 exercise books which were presented to the students.

The corp member in his speech beckoned on the students to take their education with a high spirit of seriousness as that will guarantee them equal opportunities with their peers not just within the country but all over the world. He further stressed that quality education in the community will guarantee peace and security especially as the state continues to drive further post-insurgency developmental plans.


Highlights of the programme includes a debate competition on the topic "Male child education is better than female child education by students of Arikime Primary School and lectures by corp members on the theme: "Education a tool for Community development", fulfilling the rights of children by their parents and Community and also a lecture on the importance of acquiring Islamic and western education.


The school Head teacher Mallam Sani Muhammed thanked NYSC and the corp member for finding their school worthy of benefiting from this huge project. He stressed that "the students were overwhelmed with joy as demonstrated in the warm reception they accorded the corps members and other guests in attendance".
